Back from a short break!

I had an unexpected break come about as I was told I needed to have a follow-up surgery on my jaw.  The operation was last Friday so I'm in the recovery process currently.  Since the 11th of July, I've been swamped with projects both at home and at work prior to my surgery.

Tonight I'll be posting a review on Rubicon's Tiger 1 kit that I managed to rifle out since I'm unable to get outside and run some mileage!

The Desert Comes to my Germans...

I got home to find two packages from Warlord Games.

Kradschutzen motorcycles with sidecars!

The first contained five Kradschutzen motorcycles with sidecars.  I'm incredibly excited to build and use these with my Germans for both my DAK list and my Defense of Italy list.  I think they'll provide a great dynamic to my play style as I prefer to normally duke it out head on.  I'll do an assembly review after I get a chance to sit down with them.

The Desert has arrived!

Last week I ordered the Warlord Desert Battlefield Theming Set.  I actually have a whole drawer full of basing supplies, but to be honest I don't have much in the sort of desert and sparse wasteland.  I looked it over online and thought it'd be a great way to get all of the basing supplies I'd need to base my Germans in a uniform manner.  Everything came packaged neatly in a compact box.

In the box you get two grades of sand and gravel with vary with grit size.  There are small rocks in the darker bag which provides a variety of scale for the texture of your bases.  In addition to the sand, you get 5 bags of grass, each with a different hue of green to it.  These will be great to create different areas of interest and provide some color contrast.  You also get some cork to create rock and other features.  You also get a nice little block of foliage which you can pull apart to add some scraggle to your bases.  I know I'll be placing some on my vehicles as camouflage (especially my Flak 88...).

Lastly you get some broken brick walls!

The stone walls are made of resin and are pretty detailed.  I think they have a lot of character to them and should be great to paint up.  As I play more games now, it's fun to find and work on additional terrain to add to the boards.  These will allow my Germans to feel right at home and will really enhance the look of the board while a game is taking place.

That's all for now.  I'll be sure to post some WIP pictures as I make my way through a busy work week and try to get some stuff done.

Thanks for looking!

Motherland! - My Soviet Bolt Action Army

Bolt Action is a great game that satisfies two elements for me: gaming and hobbying.  In all, I currently have three armies: Soviets, United States Marines and DAK / Defense of Italy Germans.  This post will cover my current status on my Soviets.

The current status of my Soviet army is best described as "scattered".  I have 3 T-34/76's completed, 1 completed Gaz truck with quad maxim machine gun, and a completed lend/lease M17 halftrack.

I have a unit, which can be divided into 2 seperate units if needed, of Russian Cossacks that are nearly completed.  The mounts themselves are all done; the riders are a different beast all together.

I have well over 80+ troops I'd like to finish along with sme scattered armor options such as an IS-3 (I call the tank by the proper designation of JS), an ISU-152, a T-35 and so on.  I have a bit of modeling ADD to be honest but I'm certainly hoping that having this blog will encourage more productivity out of me!

Thanks for looking.

And we're off

It's literally been years since I kept a blog.  I had a blog about 6 years ago when I kept track of my Warhammer games and my ventures in painting.  Since then, I've fallen in love with military models and have learned a great deal in the past 3 years.  This blog will cover the whole slew of military models I enjoy to build, cover reviews of kits, and be a general area for me to keep track of my progress.

On the bench currently is a T-72 kit by Tamiya.  I plan on converting this kit and enering it into a local contest as well as the 2017 Crystal Brush contest at Adepticon.  I picked up the T-72 B/B1 resin turret as I want to model this tank in the Chechnya Conflict.  I also picked up a metal barrel as I hate competing with the seams that a plastic barrel usually has.
